A thigh lift is a surgical procedure that reshapes the thighs by removing excess skin and fat and results in a better contour. It is usually combined with liposuction if Dr. Davison deems it beneficial.
Older patients and patients that have lost a significant amount of weight often seek this procedure to remove excess skin. This procedure can be performed using only a hidden incision in the groin crease (to address the upper half of the thighs only) or a full-length incision along the inner thigh for more complete reshaping.
The best candidates for this procedure are people who have excess skin in their thigh region, can maintain relatively stable weight and can keep a healthy lifestyle. Most often this procedure is recommended after massive weight loss (including bariatric surgery)
The recovery process can take several weeks and in general most patients can resume normal activities after 4 to 6 weeks. It is normal to have bruising and swelling during the first 2 weeks and it will take up to a year for the scarring to fade. Dr. Davison will provide an accurate timeline during the consultation appointment.
Yes, this surgery is safe but, like any surgery, there are risks. Dr. Davison will outline the risks and benefits of this procedure and answer questions during the consultation appointment.
