EDUCATION
Dr. Davison completed an Electrical Engineering degree, with distinction prior to embarking on his medical career. He completed Medical school in 3 years at the University of Calgary. During this time he found his passion for the multiple domains of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. He then completed the rigorous five-year Plastic Surgery residency training program at the Dalhousie University program.
After graduation, he began his Harvard University training, studying Clinical Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Research Methodology. This intensive program is designed for medical professionals to develop the knowledge and skills to contribute to medical research at the highest level. He obtained a Masters of Science degree in Epidemiology.
FELLOWSHIP TRAINING
His first fellowship was under the renowned Reconstructive Microsurgeon Dr. Ed Buchel, at the University of Manitoba. The major focus of this program is to develop an expertise in the technically challenging field of microsurgery. Microsurgery involves the connection of 1 – 2 mm blood vessels to allow transplantation of ones own tissue from one area of the body to another. For breast reconstruction this typically means taking the “tummy-tuck” tissue from the lower abdomen and sculpting it into a breast, following a mastectomy for breast cancer.
His second fellowship was in Aesthetics and Breast Surgery, with Dr. Brian Peterson of UBC – a past president of the Canadian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (CSAPS). His time here was split between complex reconstructive surgery at the hospital and full-spectrum aesthetic surgery. He further developed his skills in dual-plan facelift, trans-conjunctival blepharoplasty and “pinch blepharoplasty”, body contouring and breast surgery.
Dr. Davison’s next sub-specialty training was with Dr. Greg Waslen, another past president of CSAPS. This experience was primarily focused on facial rejuvenation including Laser skin resurfacing, extended and mini-facelifts, SAFE liposuction, fat grafting, and Buttock Augmentation.
